While malware writers have attacked PCs because of their popularity and queen-size attack surfaces, Android and iOS phones aren't condition—and Microsoft, recognizing this, plans to offer Microsoft Withstander for both platforms.
Though Microsoft apparently plans to release more details at the RSA Security conference adjacent workweek, company executives revealed their plans to CNBC last week in an interview published today. Microsoft also announced Microsoft Defender Late Threat Trade protection for Linux on Thursday, in a public prevue announced via a web log mail.
Microsoft renamed "Windows Defender" as "Microsoft Withstander" last July, perhaps signaling its plans to secure other platforms. A preview of both its iOS and Mechanical man security solutions will be available next week at the RSA conference.
"They're pretty unhurt, but beautiful risk-free is not the same as secure," Rob Lefferts, a Microsoft corporal vice president, said in the CNBC interview, talking about the preponderance of malware on smartphones. "Malware does happen connected those platforms."
Interestingly, the Defender box that Microsoft plans to install doesn't appear to equal traditional antimalware. "Providing comprehensive tribute across multiple platforms through a single solvent and flowing catch is more Copernican than ever so."
While Google has traditionally claimed that running up-to-particular date Android software is the best defense against malware, users may feel a bit more comfortable with an added layer of protection. Microsoft apparently hopes to reassure its corporate clients that it can secure their phones likewise as their PCs.
